Welcome To...About Rita's "Choices"

Rita's "Choices" has a history dating back to 1972. My children were young and I was doing volunteer work and decided I wanted something more challenging.  A friend and I were talking one day and since we had been inveterate shoppers we thought we could come up with a concept that would fulfill our needs as well as be exciting for our friends to see.

And...Rita and Peggy's Choices was born.  Actually, the original name was Rings 'n Things as we were going to specialize in high fashion jewelry.  As time passed we began to see the need for fine jewelry and accessories that were not carried locally.  The first nine years we were in business we worked out of both of our homes. The six-week shows presented two times a year were held at my house and the rest of the time we were at Peggys.

When our children were in high school (and at least 2 of them were driving) we decided to move into a store! We found a wonderful location in Chenoweth Square in the St. Matthews area of Louisville. We designed the store to look more like someones home, with warm colors and cool lighting. We went on a buying trip and were so nervous we came home early!

Our opening was a hugh success and for the next 15-years we were very happy with our growth due, not in a small part, to the wonderful people who worked for us.  After 25-years in business, Peggy decided to "retire" so she could spend time in the sun in Flordia.  I wasn't ready to give up and so continued in a smaller location.

I became more involved in the invitation and stationery fields as well as many accessories for people who travel. You will find lots of unusual things for babies and children as well a specialities for the home.

So now the evolution continues...
